Women’s rugby club to host fundraiser tournament Saturday
The Central Michigan women’s rugby club will host "Ruck the Mountain 10’s" on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Kelly/Shorts Stadium to collect nonperishable food items.
The annual tournament, which began last year, includes four teams from around Michigan and Ohio — Traverse City Women, Central Michigan, Bowling Green State and Dawghouse.
The teams are not only playing rugby, but also competing to see which team can raise the most food, said senior Club President Kaitlyn Willauer.
“We raised 560 pounds of nonperishable food items last year,” Willauer said. “We are hoping to greatly surpass that this year.”
Donations are going to the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen.
It costs $2 or two nonperishable food items to get into the event.
