Gymnastics improves to 6-0 with win against NIU in MAC Opener
The Central Michigan gymnastics team earned its highest score of the season in the Mid-American Conference opener against Northern Illinois, beating the Huskies 195.275 to 194.675.
The Chippewas improve to 6-0 coming off a win against Brigham Young University last week.
Freshman Kasey Janowicz won her fourth all-around event of the season with a season-high score of 39.125 and won the vault with a season-high 9.875.
CMU beat NIU in three of four events and earned season-high results on vault (48.825), bars (49.075) and beam (48.95).
The team's best event of the night was bars — CMU's first event — with a 49.075. Rachel Carr and Bryttany Kaplan finishing in the top positions with a 9.85.
Five gymnasts from CMU finished in the top six on the balance beam, scoring a 9.75 or higher.
Central Michigan hosts a conference meet Ball State (1-1) at 1 p.m. in the McGuirk Arena next week.
