Pelowski hired as CMU field hockey coach
Athletic Director Dave Heeke announces the new field hockey head coach, Molly Pelowski, Tuesday Feb. 3, 2015. Pelowski was the assistant coach at Michigan State University for seven years and now she replaces long time CMU field hockey coach Cristy Freese.
Molly Pelowski, an assistant coach at Michigan State University for the past seven seasons, was announced as the next Central Michigan University head field hockey coach on Tuesday.
Former CMU head coach Cristy Freese was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director on Jan. 5, leaving the head field hockey coach spot vacant.
A press conference to introduce Pelowski will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday the CMU Events Center Media Room.
“Molly is a fantastic addition to our staff,” Athletic Director Dave Heeke said in a statement. “She has a passion and energy for Central Michigan and field hockey that I feel will continue the success our program has had on and off the field. Molly understands what makes this university great and believes in creating a championship experience for all our field hockey student-athletes.”
The Spartans won 77 games and made three NCAA Tournament appearances during Pelowski's stint in East Lansing.
