Women's soccer releases 2014 schedule
Though the World Cup has ended, soccer fans on the campus of Central Michigan University can rest assured they will get their quality futbol fix this fall.
The CMU women's soccer team has made the team's 2014 schedule public, kicking off significant anticipation of several highly-competitive matches.
The Chippewas will open the 2014 campaign in the Windy City with an Aug. 22 clash with DePaul, an member of the soccer-talent-stacked Big East Conference.
CMU's first home game of the season is slated for Sept. 5 against in-state rival Oakland University.
Second-year head coach Peter McGahey's squad opened the season with seven consecutive losses in 2013, but went 7-3 once Mid-American Conference play started.
The women start MAC play this fall against recently-struggling Northern Illinois University at home on Sept. 26.
A lengthy four-game conference road trip is how the Chippewas will start the month of October.
The team will recognize its seniors before the second-to-last home game – an Oct. 19 match against Akron.
McGahey returns several outstanding starters including last year's leading goal scorer Laura Gosse.
Should CMU qualify, the women would play in the MAC Tournament Nov. 2 - 9.
