Two female Chippewas sports stars making presence known internationally
Two female Central Michigan University athletes have been and will be busy promoting the Chippewas brand during the summer months in international tournaments.
Sophomore Track and Field athlete Devene Brown nabbed the second place designation in the shot put event during the Jamaican National Senior Championships in Kingston on June 29.
Meanwhile, CMU volleyball's Kaitlyn McIntyre will join other world players during the 2014 European Global Challenge on July 13.
Brown also took ninth place in the discus throw with a toss of 137-7. Her shot put throw came in at 47 feet, 4 inches.
The Kingston native currently holds the CMU record for longest women's discus throw (179-3).
McIntyre is a two-time All Mid-American Conference selection and led CMU in kills and aces last season.
She is the first Chippewa to be selected for competition in the tournament in the last decade.
The tournament will feature 12 national teams such as Italy, Russia and Slovenia.
