Mobile Health Central to bring health care out to rural community with motor home
Billed as a training opportunity for aspiring Central Michigan University students, the College of Health Professions will provide a mobile opportunity for rural residents to gain accessible health care and education.
Mobile Health Central, a 39-foot motor home organized by the college will travel and provide community outreach.
The motor home will be an extension of the Carls Center for Clinical Care and Education, and was funded by a $500,000 grant from The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation of Midland, according to a press release issued by CMU.
“Mobile Health Central expands the college’s mission of serving and enhancing health care in areas of need on Michigan,” said Chris Ingersoll, dean of Health Professions. “It will be incorporated into our student learning, research and outreach efforts.”
Equipped with a soundproof booth for hearing testing, exam tables and sinks, the mobile home will not only aid the rural community in health care, but will also seek answers in addressing problems in access to health care services.
