Residents and tourists alike have enjoyed Mount Pleasant for its unique food, retail and leisure activities since it was founded in 1889.

While those who have lived in the city for decades know Mount Pleasant's history well, visitors and other passersby have few avenues to quickly learn about the home of Central Michigan University.

Yet through a collection of bronze statues peppered around the city, students and other patrons of the area can get a glimpse of Mount Pleasant's past.
