Senior right-handed pitcher Pat Kaminska was pulled after five and two thirds innings during Central Michigan's 6-5 win in game two of Saturday's doubleheader with Buffalo.

Kaminska, who has been the team's most consistent starter (5-1, 1.84 ERA), was looking strong with a 3-1 lead in the sixth until he gave up a two-run home run with two outs followed by a double to centerfield.

He was replaced by sophomore left-handed pitcher Matt Trowbridge.

"I think (Kaminska) is doing fine," CMU coach Steve Jaksa said. "And that's as much as I'm going to say about that."

Trowbridge inherited a 3-3 game with a runner on second and gave up a home run to right field on his first pitch.

When Trowbridge returned for the seventh inning the lead had changed hands again.

Sophomore freshman shortstop Morgan Oliver laid down a sacrifice bunt to move two runners and junior center fielder Nick Regnier brought his teammates in with a RBI infield single.

Sophomore right fielder Logan Regnier moved his brother to third on a groundout before junior catcher Tyler Huntey, grounded the ball to third giving the Chippewas (19-11, 8-0 MAC) a 6-5 lead.

Huntey hit a solo bomb in the first inning.

"Sometimes that happens in baseball," Jaksa said of Trowbridge's rocky start to the sixth. "I'm really pleased with how we moved the runners. It's the little things that we continue to do to move them up and bring them in."

Trowbridge settled down to earn the win by going one and one third innings allowing one hit, one earned run, three walks and striking out two.

Junior Tim Black entered the game to counter a right-handed Buffalo pinch hitter in the eighth and forced a pop-up to left field and a strikeout looking.

"(Black) handled the righty and then got the lefty and handled their three, four hitters and got to the ninth," Jaksa said. "It made it us look like we knew what we're doing."

CMU looks to complete the series sweep tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. at Theunissen Stadium. Freshman Nick Deeg is expected to get the start on the mound.
