Kaminska continues strong pitching, winning streak for CMU baseball
Senior right-handed pitcher Pat Kaminska has been nearly perfect since taking a loss in the second game of the Chippewas season.
In the six games Kaminska has started, Central Michigan is 6-0 while Kaminska is 5-0 with an ERA of 1.25.
"Realistically, it's a team thing," Kaminska said. "My best pitching out of all of those (starts) was the Central Florida game where I didn't get the win. It's all about team wins as opposed to individual wins."
Kaminska returns to the mound this spring after suffering an injury in what was supposed to be his final season, last year.
"I was happy I could come out and get the win for my team," he said Sunday. "I settled down in about the fourth inning and got into a groove."
Kaminska worked into and out of trouble throughout the first game of CMU's double-header against Miami (Ohio), Sunday. He threw seven innings and gave up an earned run on four hits, three walks and eight strikeouts.
The RedHawks, who came into the weekend with the Mid-American Conference's best offense, threatened with runners in scoring position in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Kaminska stranded six runners total.
"I thought he was effectively wild," said head coach Steve Jaksa. "From his command standpoint, he was OK."
Kaminska was able to keep Sunday's Game 1 tied until the sixth inning when the Chippewas offense managed to break it.
