EDITORIAL: Thank you for supporting CM Life

For the past 95 years, Central Michigan Life has been dedicated to providing campus with up-to-date news on issues, events and ideas important to Central Michigan University and the surrounding community.

We pride ourselves on working around the clock to bring readers accurate and timely news that matters.

Between three print editions per week, one of the largest collegiate social media presences in the country and a newly redesigned website and smartphone app, we have the tools to bring that news to you in many ways.

However, we can’t do it without you: Our readers.

News editors and reporters account for only a small fraction of the student body. While we try to stay abreast of what is happening on campus, reaching out as much as we can to gather information – we can only do so much.

Ultimately, as a news organization, we rely on you.

While our reporters are skilled with finding campus news, large portions of some of the hardest hitting stories arrive in the form of tips from readers.

If CM Life is going to continue tagging itself as the “voice of the students,” we need to hear more of that voice on a regular basis.

We encourage all readers to submit letters to the editor, follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook and submit guest columns. The more input we have, the better the newspaper will be.

Hear something newsworthy? Reach out to us. We want to hear from you. Give us a call.

CM Life also offers a unique opportunity: Student employment. We’re constantly on the lookout for new talent to join all facets of our editorial and advertising staff.

Whether majoring in journalism or something entirely unrelated, the opportunity to join our staff and contribute on a consistent basis has never been larger.

We have reporter, photographer, design, video and advertising positions available to anyone with the dedication and talent to fill them.

Take a trip up to the fourth floor of Moore Hall, room 436, and talk with us. We’ll show you around the newsroom, answer your questions and get an application in your hands that very day.

As this semester reaches its conclusion, we leave you with our appreciation.

Thank you to each person reading today and throughout the year. Thank you to every advertiser helping CM Life's Spring staff production possible.

We would also like to extend a thank you to administrators, faculty and staff who have worked with our reporters to create the quality news the readers have come to expect. Without you, articles would lack vital information and opinions that fuel the news each day.

It’s been a great semester. We truly do appreciate your support, and together, we can ensure the news is reported in the way you want to read it.

Check back for our first issue of Spring semester Jan. 13 for continued coverage.
