CMU's Dan Enos continues to hurl praise at the Ball State offense; Vegas line inches up
Central Michigan head coach Dan Enos continued to heap praise for Ball State quarterback Keith Wenning this week, calling the Cardinals offense an "outstanding football team."
"You just can't pin down one person," Enos said Monday during the Mid-American Conference coaches' teleconference. "It really all starts with the quarterback and the run-game. They run the ball so effectively they make you load the box up to try to stop them, and that quarterback's good enough to beat you.
"You're never going to stop them, but you've got to try to slow them down if you can. They don't beat themselves, and the thing I'm most impressed by is how disciplined of a group they are."
After practicing Monday and today, CMU (3-5, 2-2 Mid-American Conference) travels to Muncie, Ind., this afternoon for Wednesday's game against Ball State (8 p.m., ESPN2). It will be the first time the Chippewas have played a football game in 17 days, almost mimicking a preseason camp or length of time before a bowl game.

"Some of the guys said to me, 'great camp, coach,'" Enos said. "They felt like they just went through two-a-days with the break. We were obviously a little smarter than that with our time in terms of the health, but they're ready to play. It's unusual to have this lull during the season and I think our guys have been very mature about it."
Enos also revealed during the call that junior quarterback Cody Kater has progressed in rehabbing his collarbone injury and will be available Wednesday. Kater remains third on the depth chart and likely won't see any playing time, but Enos said he's "inching closer" to being 100 percent.
"He's had some reps and he's done really well," Enos said. "Every day he's getting better."
Davis tops among all active receivers
Helping his campaign to become a Biletnikoff Award finalist, junior receiver Titus Davis is first in the nation in yards per reception (19.1) among active receivers.
Davis, who sat out the Ohio game with injury, is fourth in the Mid-American Conference this season in yards per game (89.6). He leads the Chippewas with 627 yards.
Vegas line inches up
After tabbing CMU as 17.5-point underdogs against Ball State earlier in the week, Las Vegas oddsmakers have pushed the line up even more. As of Tuesday afternoon, most Vegas sportsbooks are now spotting the Chippewas 20.5 points, indicating that the final score of Wednesday's game won't be close.
Oddsmakers were wrong when CMU played Ohio. Can they prove Vegas wrong again? Stay tuned.
