Field hockey starts MAC play at home Saturday against Ball State
Women's field hockey sets its sight on a strong start to the Mid-American Conference season at 1 p.m. Saturday at home against Ball State.
After a six-game losing streak, the Chippewas were able to win in overtime last week 2-1 against UC Davis.
A game-winning goal by the sophomore midfielder Kaysie Gregory gave the team a big confidence boost moving into this weekend's MAC showdown. With the possibility of continuing the losing streak off the minds of the Chippewas, they look forward to starting a winning streak in MAC section of their schedule.
Although the Chippewas scored 12 goals in their first four games, CMU failed to score more than four goals in their last five.
Ball State enters the game on Saturday on a two-game winning streak, scoring 11 goals in their last five games.
The Cardinals will take on No. 19 Michigan the following day. Ball State will be looking to get ready for the Wolverines match by coming out hard against the Chippewas.
CMU is looking for point and goal leaders junior midfielder Mary Alice Moore and senior forward Bailey McKeon to come out strong against Ball State.
