Sports Update: Volleyball sweeps Buffalo

An incredible effort from the defense led the volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Buffalo.

The Chippewas held the Bulls to .079 attack percentage in the sweep, which improves the team to 5-4 in the Mid-American Conference.

“It was just a lot of fun to play in this match,” said junior outside hitter Lauren Krupsky. “Buffalo came into this match with an even MAC record as us so we know that we had to play well tonight.”

Central’s true freshmen had solid offensive performances as middle blocker Danielle Gotham hit for eight kills on 11 swings and outside hitter Lindsey Dulude also hit for eight kills.

“My hitters did a great job of charging the net and being aggressive,” Budde said. “They made me look really good tonight.”

CMU took a dominating lead in the first set by holding Buffalo to 12 points. UB was able to hit for only three kills in the set and a attack percentage of -.160.

“That’s about as good as it gets for our defense,” said coach Erik Olson. “I want the team who showed up tonight for Central Michigan to keep showing up for the rest of the season.”

CMU hosts Akron at 7 p.m. Saturday in Rose Arena.
