LIFE IN BRIEF: Ray Francis names EHS interim associate dean


EHS dean search Ray Francis named interim dean Associate professor of Teacher Education and Professional Development and former Academic Senate Chairman Ray Francis was appointed as the College of Education and Human Services interim associate dean."Dr. Francis brings strong experience with teacher education programs as well as leadership experience on a number of levels across the university," said Kathy Koch, interim dean for the College of EHS, in an e-mail to Central Michigan Life.Koch said the associate dean is an important resource to the dean. "Duties ... involves being a liaison between the dean and faculty and staff, as well as assisting with programmatic and budgetary initiatives within the college and across the university," she said.It is unlikely that a search for a new dean will begin before the fall, Koch said. Koch, the former associate dean, was appointed as interim dean after the death of EHS dean Karen Adams in April. Francis could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Police Chief Search Chief remains in first round of interviews The search committee for the Central Michigan University police chief remains in the first round of interviews. John Fisher, associate vice president residences and auxiliary services, said the committee hopes to bring finalists to campus in early June, although the number of finalists is not yet known.

HEV designators All HEV designators changing for fall Course designators for all HEV classes will change for Fall 2009. They will be available in the schedule book and portal. New course designators include HDF 100, HDF 110, AMD 252, IND 332, FNS 370. Questions can be directed to the HEV Office at 774-3218.
