Fair room and board
The Board of Trustees provided next year's on-campus students with reason for a sigh of relief.
The Board raised room and board rates by 3 percent, in contrast to the usual increase of 6 percent.
Trustees' comments reflected broad economic concerns. In today's economy, students are tight on cash. Students in residence halls are no different; many of them cannot afford another considerable hike.
We applaud the trustees for raising rates only by 3 percent. This will provide a smaller revenue increase than in years past -
