CMU headed to third consecutive Motor City Bowl

The CMU football team will travel to Ford Field in Detroit for its third consecutive postseason to play Florida Atlantic of the Sun Belt Conference.
The Chippewas and Owls will play in the Motor City Bowl at 8 p.m. on Dec. 26. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN.
No. 22 ranked Ball State, the other strong possibility for the Motor City Bowl, will face Tulsa of Conference USA in the GMAC Bowl on Jan. 6.
Western Michigan, meanwhile, will go to the Texas Bowl to face Rice of Conference USA at 8 p.m. Dec. 30 in Houston.
The Chippewas (8-4 overall, 6-2 Mid-American Conference) won the 2006 Motor City Bowl, 31-14, over Middle Tennessee State, also of the Sun Belt Conference, and lost 51-48 to Purdue in 2007.
