Harman clutch in Chippewas' 70-68 win over Wright State

Robbie Harman's two late 3-pointers powered Central Michigan over Wright State 70-68 Saturday at Rose Arena.

The junior guard tied the game with eight seconds remaining in regulation on a 3-pointer, sending the game to overtime. In overtime Harman fired another 3-pointer with just two seconds left to get CMU back to .500 on the season.

"We were able to outlast and beat a really good team in Wright State," said CMU coach Ernie Zeigler.

Central held a 35-32 lead at the half, but eventually fell behind by 10 with just 4:07 remaining in the game. But the defense buckled down and held the Raiders without a field goal in the final 1:38, setting up Central's comeback and Harman's game tying three.

In overtime Wright State scored the first five points, but sophomore guard Jeremy Allen's two 3-pointers sparked a comeback that brought CMU within one with just more than a minute remaining.

After a rush by the Raiders, junior forward Jacolby Hardiman grabbed a defensive rebound with 21 seconds remaining. CMU cycled the ball around before sophomore guard Antonio Weary kicked out the ball to Harman who gave the Chippewas the victory.

"We really did a good job after we ran our initial set of drawing and penetrating and kicking for each other," Zeigler said. "And Robbie's three at the end was a great example of that."

Harman finished the game with nine points. Leading the team in points was Allen, who finished with 22 points and four rebounds. Senior forward Chris Kellermann finished with 18 and Hardiman added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

CMU (2-2, 0-0 Mid American Conference) travels to Illinois-Chicago on Nov. 29.
