Men's cross country: Matt Loiselle
The senior from Windsor, Ont., finished his career in Oct. 27's Mid-American Conference championships by finishing ninth in the 8-kilometer race with a time of 25 minutes, 19.3 seconds. He gained second-team All-MAC honors for the second consecutive year.
Women's cross country: Kelly McClure
Central's disappointing season was highlighted by this top finisher in 19th place at the Mid-American Conference championships. The junior from Iron Mountain finished the 5-kilometer race in 18 minutes, 27.6 seconds, and CMU finished in sixth place.
Field hockey: Samantha Sandham
The junior midfielder from Cape Town, South Africa, led the Mid-American Conference with 10 assists and finished seventh with 20 points. She added two assists in CMU's 3-2 win against No. 5 Michigan State on Sept. 26 and a goal in its 3-2 loss to No. 4 Michigan on Oct. 17. As a team captain, Sandham led the team with 10 assists, 20 points and 57 shots on goal.
Football: Dan LeFevour
The football Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year led the Chippewas to their second consecutive conference championship and Motor City Bowl appearance. He was the second player to gain more than 3,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing in a single season, joining Vince Young.
Soccer: Stephanie Martin
The reigning MAC Freshman of the Year's eight goals ranked second in the conference. She led the MAC in shots - 87 - and was tied for first in game-winning goals (four).
Men's basketball:
Giordan Watson
Watson, a second team All-MAC selection, led the conference in assists (4.45 per game), was third in scoring (16.4 points per game) and third in steals (1.87 per game)
Women's basketball: Brittni Houghton
Houghton averaged a team-high 13.1 points per game in 29 games for CMU. She also averaged 5.8 rebounds as the team went 6-23.
Gymnastics: Andrea de la Garza
De la Garza made an immediate impact in her first season in maroon and gold. She won the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year award, and followed it up the next day with a conference all-around title, the first freshman to do so since 2002.
Men's track: Abraham Mach
Junior middle-distance runner Abraham Mach proved he was the most dominant athlete in the Mid-American Conference by finishing first in the 800-meter run.
Women's track: Jenaie Edwards
Edwards is closing out her CMU career with a senior campaign that included a regional qualifying time of 2:06.9 in the 800 meters.
