New changes will make Life better

There will be some new features added to Central Michigan Life in 2006.
Along with three new editors at the news desk, the position of art director was created and the voices editor was reinstated.
However, it will not be the shakeup in positions that should pique reader interest, but rather some new features CM Life will offer.
There will be columns by myself, Managing Editor Kate Finneren and Mat Stutzman. These columns will be on the Voices pages.
Each Wednesday our Lifeline section will feature a new column called Role Play. There will be a male and female staff member presenting different views on various issues. Readers can e-mail possible column topics to lifeline@cm-life.com.
Advice Columnist Christine Walsh will appear on Monday and Friday.
Readers also will get a chance to hear about what went into a column and why the columnist chose to write it. Exclusively at our Web site, www.cm-life.com, there will be short recordings related to each individual column running in the paper. The writers will reveal why they were compelled to write what they did and offer other commentary.
There will be a change in regards to posting feedback on our Web site as well. For those who wish to post, it will now be mandatory for individuals to allow for their first and last names and e-mail addresses to be visible.
The policy is consistent with our Letters to the Editor policy. There is no difference between posting feedback and writing a letter to the editor, so anonymity should not be given strictly to online readers.
Also in the works is an open house for all student organizations, groups and others interested in CM Life. The event will give organizations and individuals insights on how to get their stories into the paper. It also will provide an opportunity to see how the publication works on a day-to-day basis.
There are a few series planned for each section, and we will continue to inform our readers of the latest and most up-to-date news that is most important to them.
The paper also will take on a slightly different look. The page toppers for each section have been redesigned. Also, Page Two in the news section is different. Instead of solely focusing on celebrity news, the page will now offer readers more national and international news.
I am anxious and excited to help deliver a product that everyone will be dying to read. And I think some of these changes will help me attain that goal.
