Softball hosts Ball State
The softball team will try to extend its 10-game winning streak when it hosts Ball State for three games this weekend.
Amber Puchalski improved to 9-3 Wednesday during a complete game peformance in game one of a doubleheader sweep at Detroit. CMU won the contests 4-2 and 9-0.
Puchalski had 11 strikeouts in the first game.
Central is 19-8 and 8-1 on the MAC season. The team may have revenge on its mind this weekend as the Cardinals were the only MAC team to defeat the Chippewas last season. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday. Action on both days will begin at 1 p.m.

The Titans managed two unearned runs on CMU errors to tie game one in the fourth inning Wednesday. Freshman catcher Brittany Decker scored the winning run in the sixth on a U-D error. A Karen Hohs RBI single closed the scoring in the seventh for Head Coach Margo Jonkers MAC leaders.
Aimee Smith added two hits.
Lindsay Roy got the loss for the Titans.
Central had 17 hits to tie a school-record in the nightcap. It was the 16th time the team achieved that mark but the first since 1988.
Hohs had three hits and two RBI ,and junior first baseman Karly McCormack had two hits and three RBI to lead the offense. Seven Central players had at least two hits in the game.
Shepherd redshirt freshman Jessica Garvin went the distance for her fourth victory. She allowed only four hits. Kim Allemon got the loss for U-D (14-8-1).
The Titans had just eight hits in the doubleheader, compared with Centrals 25.
Ball State is 9-13-1 on the season and is led by senior shortstop Katie Shea. The reigning MAC Player of the Year and Royal Oak native is batting .478 with three home runs this year.
Courtney Winger leads the BSU pitching staff with a 4-4 record and a 3.52 ERA.
