Volleyball loses in first round of MAC Tourney

The scores were 30-24, 30-26, 28-30, 27-30 and 17-19.
We were up 2-0 because Akron didnt take us seriously and I think they overlooked us, said junior setter Shaleene Glombowski. They served a lot more aggressive between games two and three and I think that caught us off guard.
Senior Kendra DeVries finished her career at CMU with a team-high 21 kills. She also added four digs, three aces and two block solos.
Freshman Tamara Fant posted 20 kills and had a .395 hitting percentage for the Chippewas. Sophomore Emily Lovejoy added 19 kills and 13 digs for her 18th double-double of the season.
There were a few points in the third and fourth games where we had mental lapses, and it was the type of match where every point was critical, said junior Melissa Reynolds.
Glombowski had a career-high 69 assists in the loss. She added 15 digs for a double-double. Freshman Ali McCrite had a career-high of her own, posting 32 digs for CMU.
Glombowski was named Second Team All-MAC, as voted by the leagues 13 head coaches last week.
Shaleene is a leader out there on the floor. She makes it easier for us, shes really awesome, Reynolds said.
Glombowski received MAC Player of the Week and AVCA/Sports Imports National Player of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 14. She ranks fifth in the CMU record books in career assists with 2,846. For the season Glombowski averaged 11.93 assists per game and 1.93 digs per game.
One of my goals was to make first or second team All-MAC, so Im happy, Glombowski said.
Lovejoy led the team in kills per game during the season with 3.82. She only needs 107 kills to reach the 1,000 kill mark for her career. Lovejoy was second on the team in digs with 2.66 per game. She led the Chippewas in service aces with 54.
Libero specialist McCrite led the team in digs with 4.31 per game. She played in 131 games this season, more than any other CMU player.
The Chippewas finished the season 13-20, a seven-game improvement from last year.
