Mens basketball signs Salems Hoskins

Salem High School senior Dave Hoskins verbally committed to the CMU men’s basketball team for the 2003-2004 season.

Hoskins averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds during his junior season en route to being named all-conference, all-division and All-State fourth team.

“He is a strong slasher who can go inside and out,” said Salem High School Basketball Coach Bob Brodie.

Brodie will play Hoskins at the power forward position this season, but said he will play either shooting guard or small forward at CMU.

“He has the ability to handle the ball and pull up and shoot. He is also a very good passer.”

Brodie said Hoskins was recruited by many Division-I programs, including Eastern Michigan, Kent State, University of Detroit and Tulane.

“He will mix into the CMU mold pretty well. Being a CMU alumnus, I know Jay Smith and his program and it will be a pretty nice fit for David.”
