2003 Calender to feature Central women

Forget Sports Illustrated — the Women of Central Michigan Calendar is on its way.

Auditions for the Women of Central Michigan 2003 Calendar will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Mount Pleasant Comfort Inn, 2424 S. Mission St.

The calendar is shot by Digital Orbit out of Birmingham, and is not affiliated with CMU.

“We are a multimedia production company,” said Steve Moloney, Digital Orbit president. “What started the calendar idea is our search for models. The other owner and I, being CMU alumni, figured this would be a great place to have a search, and the calendar would be a good way to do it.”

At the Oct. 7 auditions, the field will be narrowed to 15 models.

“Those 15 will be asked to come back. It is a possibility to develop portfolios to distribute and let agencies know that there are models in Mount Pleasant,” Moloney said.

Moloney would not disclose how much the models will receive.

“We will pay them for their work,” he said.

The audition is open to any CMU women that want to try.

“We ask that they bring a swimsuit or similar type outfit to be photographed in,” Moloney said.

The sale price of the calendars is yet to be determined.

More information on this and where calendars can be purchased will be available shortly.

“Conducting one of our local searches here in Mount Pleasant looks to be very promising,” he said. "We hope to get the word out and have a large turnout on Oct. 7.”
