Gymnastics defeats Broncos
CMU took top honors in all four events and in the all around.
Junior Michele Orloski won the floor exercise with a score of 9.9, which finished a perfect rotation.
Sophomore Tiffani Berra scored a career-best 9.825, which tied junior Sarah Dame and freshman Kara Reighard for second. Junior Tammy Verrinder added a 9.725.
Reighard won the all around with a score of 38.6 and is now ranked No. 6 in the NCAA central region.
Dame finished second with a 37.750.
Its a step forward for us, Dame said. Its awesome to finally be home and win.
Reighard tied for second on the vault with a 9.725 and tied for first on uneven bars with freshman Sara Burtinsky with a 9.825.
The Chippewas opened the meet with a 48.55 on the vault. Jerry Reighard said it was a great way for the team to start the meet.
Freshman Shanna Duggan won vault with a 9.775. Dame finished fourth with a 9.7. Verrinder and Orloski added a 9.675.
Burtinsky won the balance beam with a score of 9.725. Orloski finished second with a 9.7.
Central counted two falls on balance beam and had three falls overall, which led to a score of 47.3.
Senior Bethany Couturier finished third on bars with a 9.75 and finished fourth on balance beam with a 9.65.
Our upperclassmen did the job today and led us to win, Jerry Reighard said.
Freshman Laura McLaren scored a 9.675 on bars, which CMU had to count a fall en route to a score of 48.3.
