Bates wins 'Picks'; Worst to First II
Sports Editor Brad Bates won this year’s expert picks.
“It took me five years, but I finally figured out MAC football,” he said.
Bates went from worse to first, finishing with a record of 56-38 two games ahead of Diversions Editor John Thorpe (54-40). Webmaster Chris McCarty and Assistant Sports Editor Adam Trumble tied for third (50-44). Sports writer, and defending champion Debbie Yascolt finished fifth (49-45). Managing editor Matt Pierscinski finished sixth (47-47). And the magic eight ball brought up the rear (44-50).
Bates 56-38 record fell three wins shy of Yascolt’s all-time mark of 59-42-3.
“It was just my year I guess,” Bates said.
