Men finish third at MAC Championships

The men’s cross country ran its way to a third place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships at Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

Eastern Michigan won the MAC with a record low score of 30 points. Behind Eastern was Miami with 83 points, then CMU. Following CMU was Kent State with 133; Buffalo with 135; Western Michigan 143; Ball State 196; Bowling Green 202; Marshall 229; Ohio 237; Toledo 261; and Akron 322.

“We were a little disappointed with our finish,” said CMU Head Coach Craig Fuller.

Jake Flynn paced the Chippewas finishing second with a time of 25:12. His placing earned him first team All-MAC honors.

“Flynn ran a gutsy race,” Fuller said. “It is only the fifth time we have had someone finish as a runner up.”

Dave Ernsberger was 16th for the Chippewas, while Sule was 26th, followed by Brian Terpak 28th and Ron Miller 41st.

“I was surprised that times were so fast because the course was so wet, soft and slow,” Fuller said.

The Chippewas run again in two weeks in Indiana as part of the Great Lakes Regional Championships.
