Ninth Annual PohlCat Benefit hits links Monday
Dan Pohl, PGA Tour professional and Mount
Pleasant native has announced that the ninth annual PohlCat Benefit is
set for July 24.
In its eight years, the benefit has donated over $370,000
to many local organizations.
Some of the organizations who have benefited from the
event include Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Isabella County, the CMU Chippewa
Club, Isabella County 4-H Horse Leaders Association, Central Michigan
Community Hospital, the American Red Cross and the Mount Pleasant Parks
and Recreation junior golf program.
Gary Friedman, CMU associate athletics director, said
this promises to be another outstanding event.
"This is about making a difference for our (community's)
kids," Friedman said.
"It wouldn't be as successful without the continued
support from the local community and businesses."
The benefit will again take place at the PohlCat Championship Golf Course,
6595 E. Airport Road.
Some of the people participating are Pohl, who will
be hosting the event this year, former CMU and New York Yankee baseball
player Tom Tresh and CMU Head Basketball Coach Jay Smith.
This year the PohlCat will be showcasing its new log-cabin
style clubhouse by hosting the dinner and auction after golf concludes.
Breakfast will be provided by Max and Emily's and lunch
will be provided by the Embers.
There will be various
contests and events along with a million-dollar shootout sponsored by
CenturyTel.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the shotgun start
at 10 a.m.
Corporate sponsorship opportunities are still available,
along with player spots.
Individual golf is $300, while dinner tickets without
golf are $75 and couples are $125.
