Women's hoops in action
The CMU women's basketball team is set to play its second exhibition game tonight against the Soproni Postas team from Hungary.
Coming off an 84-70 loss to a team of college all-stars last Wednesday the women's team will be looking to notch its first win of the season.
"We need more consistency offensively," CMU Head Coach Fran Voll said.
"We need to rebound well and continue to shoot a better percentage."
Voll said the Chippewas played some parts of the loss well, particularly defensively in the first half.
"We need to shore up defensively," he said.
Central led the game against the all-stars 38-28 at the half, but the All-Stars went on a 20-4 run early on in the second half.
Senior Shelly Woods paced the CMU attack in the loss with 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Jodi Culbertson, also a senior, added 11 points, including three 3-pointers.
Sophomore Amanda Winner started at center for the Chips and notched seven points and hauled down eight boards, while Vershaun Jones netted seven points and seven rebounds.
Molli Munz had a nice all-around game for Central, tallying eight points, five boards and four assists.
"The point guards played real well," Voll said.
With only 10 days left until the regular season begins, Voll said the team will play tonight's game more like a real game.
Freshman Desiree Edison injured her ankle in the loss to the all-stars and will not play tonight, beyond that Voll said he is not sure of her status.
