Demarcus Governor is the seventh commit in Central Michigan's 2019 class.

Central Michigan has officially added its seventh member to the 2019 class.

On June 20, Plant City Florida's Durant High School class of 2019 three-star cornerback Demarcus Governor announced his commitment to continue his career with the Chippewas.

"I absolutely fell in love with the campus, community and people," Governor said.

The 6-foot-0, 181-pound defensive back has offers to play for Air Force, Appalachian State, Army, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Campbell, Central Michigan, Charleston Southern, Eastern Kentucky, Furman, Holy Cross, Liberty, Mercer, Navy, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Tennessee State, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Despite having 24 total offers, Governor had his eyes set on playing football in the maroon and gold.

"I love the connection I have with secondary coach (Cory) Hall inside the film room, on the field and as a person," Governor said. "With me being a December graduate, I will have the opportunity to come in early and make an impact."

Governor is fond of CMU coach John Bonamego and is ready to give him the best he has to offer on the field.

"I think Coach Bono can make everyone around him better by the effort he puts into his players and into his program," Governor said. "He isn't the type of coach to accept being average or a half-effort. He emphasizes on details. He says what he means and his actions support his statements."

In the 2017 season, Governor made 47 solo tackles, 17 passes defended and two interceptions and one forced fumble. He returned kicks for 647 total yards.

When Governor comes to Mount Pleasant, he will double major in political science and African American politics.

Now that Governor is committed to CMU, the recruitment begins. He is aiming to bring Tampa Flordia's Berkeley Prep class of 2019 three-star athlete Josh Youngblood, Tampa Catholic class of 2020 3-star athlete Joe Hodge and Plant City Durant class of 2020 defensive back Corey Barnes to the Chippewas.

"I tell them all that they will be able to display natural Florida speed in the Midwest and compete for the Mid-American Conference championship every year," he said. "I tell them they will be with me, which I say because I'm the type of teammate that will get everything out of them. I also tell them how beautiful the campus is and how genuine everyone is."

Governor is ranked No. 1,548 in the 2019 class, No. 156 at his position and No. 178 in Florida, according to 247Sports.

Central Michigan's 2019 class includes:
