First half by the numbers: WMU 21, CMU 3


After one half, undefeated Western Michigan leads Central Michigan 21-3 in the battle for the Victory Cannon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

CMU scored first on its opening drive with a 45-yard field goal by senior kicker Brian Eavey. Eavey missed his last four field goal attempts.

The Broncos responded with a 13-play, 74-yard drive that was capped off by a 6-yard touchdown reception by senior Michael Henry.

With 8:09 remaining in the second quarter, WMU junior Jarvion Franklin scored on a 34-yard touchdown run to push the Broncos' lead to 14-3.

Franklin scored another touchdown with 58 seconds remaining in the half to extend the Broncos' lead to 18 points.

CMU is playing without multiple starters due to injury, including junior offensive lineman Derek Edwards and senior safety Tony Annese. 

During the first half, WMU senior wide receiver Corey Davis became WMU and Mid-American Conference's leader in all-time receiving yards. He needed seven yards to break the record coming into the game.
