First half by the numbers: CMU 17, BSU 7

After one half of football, Central Michigan leads Ball State 17-7 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Homecoming.
CMU started the scoring off with a 29-yard field goal by senior kicker Brian Eavey. The Chippewas' passing attack drove 68 yards down the field before having to settle for the field goal.
Ball State immediately responded with a 14-play, 77 yard touchdown drive that was capped off with a rushing score by sophomore running back James Gilbert.
CMU regained the lead when junior running back Devon Spalding scored a one-yard touchdown at the end of an 84-yard CMU drive.
With seven seconds remaining in the half, the Chippewas extended their lead to 10 on a touchdown throw from senior quarterback Cooper Rush to junior receiver Corey Willis.
The Cardinals came into today's game ranked seventh nationally in sacks, but did not get any during the first half.
Rush has led the Chippewas' offense, completing 12-for-19 passes for 193 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 40 yards.
