Herrington leaves women's basketball team, transfers to Northwood
Karli Herrington is no longer a member of the Central Michigan women's basketball team.
The 6-foot-2 sophomore forward will be transferring to Northwood University next season, according to the Midland Daily News. She spent two seasons with the Chippewas.
“I decided to leave CMU because I didn’t think it was a very good fit for me," Herrington told the Midland Daily News. "It just didn’t work out. I’m looking forward to going to Northwood. I feel that (Northwood) will give me a lot more opportunity to get on the court and play. When I was looking at places to go and I visited Northwood, I felt really welcomed and comfortable being there.”
Herrington saw limited playing time behind soon-to-be junior forward Tinara Moore and soon-to-be sophomore forward Reyna Frost. Herrington appeared in 13 games during her sophomore campaign, averaging 0.6 points and 0.8 rebounds
During her freshman season, Herrington played in 17 games and started two. She averaged 1.1 points and 1.59 rebounds in 2014-15.
Before her time at CMU, Herrington prepped at Hemlock High School near Saginaw, where she was named to First Team All-State during the 2013-14 season.
Herrington's transfer marks the second consecutive season in which an underclassman forward has left the program. Rikke Fabricius transferred to California State Los Angeles after her redshirt freshman season on the 2014-15 team. She appeared in only one game for CMU.
