Women's basketball to play Western Michigan Wednesday in Cleveland


Broncos drop 94 points on Northern Illinois


Central Michigan women's basketball will play in-state rival Western Michigan Wednesday in Cleveland for the third time this season.

The No. 7 Bronco's defeated No. 10 Northern Illinois 94-52 in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Monday.

WMU shot 55.7 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from 3-point range as they controlled most of the game on their home court at University Arena in Kalamazoo. The Broncos' Meredith Shipman (18 points), Jessica Jessing (19 points) and Alex Morton (15 points) combined for 52 points.  

The Chippewas swept the Broncos during the regular season, beating them 53-51 on Jan. 27 at McGuirk Arena and 73-61 a month later on Feb. 27 in Kalamazoo.

Freshmen Presley Hudson and Reyna Frost combined for 29 points in the Chippewas' latest win over the Broncos. 

The game will be the third game played on Wednesday in at Quicken Loans Arena, starting 30 minutes after the previous game is over. Action beings at 12 p.m. on Wednesday in Cleveland.
