Central Michigan's loss to Minnesota by the numbers

DETROIT — As it took a loss in the Motor City, the Central Michigan football team lost the battle in the trenches defensively and made too many mistakes on offense to force overtime.

Some numbers from today's game

5 — Touchdowns scored by freshman running back Romello Ross through the final two games, the most by any CMU rusher in a two-game stretch this season.

0 — Touchdowns thrown by CMU quarterback Cooper Rush during the Quick Lane Bowl. Rush ran for one score to give the Chippewas their first lead of the game during the first quarter.

34,217 — The announced attendance at Ford Field for the 2015 Quick Lane Bowl. CMU sold all of its allotted 3,500 tickets to the game in eight days. It's the fifth-highest attended CMU bowl game in program history.

6 — The number of times a CMU ball carrier was tackled for a loss during the game. Rush was sacked on the final play of the game as he attempted to set up a would-be Hail Mary to tie the game.

7-6 — Head Coach John Bonamego's final record during his first season.

248 — The number of days until the 2016 CMU football season opener against Presbyterian.
