Staff Predictions: Akron
With a win Saturday at Akron, the Central Michigan football team would be above .500 for the first time this season. Here's how five Central Michigan Life sports reporters think the Chippewas will fare, as they look to win their third game in a row.

Record: 7-1
Last Saturday was evidence that there are no easy road wins, and this Saturday’s game at Akron won’t be an exception. The Zips rushing defense is strong, so it will likely be the Cooper Rush show again. Akron will hang tough, but it’s tough to pick against the Chippewas, who are just starting to get on a roll.
Final Score: CMU 31, Akron 23

This should be a blowout. Akron is just plain bad. CMU has owned the Zips in recent meetings and I don’t see that changing based on how well Cooper Rush and the CMU offense has played this season and how poorly things have gone for Akron’s defense.
Final Score: CMU 48, Akron 13
Greg Wickliffe, Staff Reporter
Record: 7-1
CMU has had its way with Akron for awhile now, and that should continue on Saturday. Though the Zips’ run defense is stout, the problem for the issue for Akron is CMU’s strength in making plays through the air. Akron won’t be able to contain CMU’s passing threats, and that will be the difference. The Zips will play tough, but CMU will ultimately run away with this one.
Final Score: CMU 31, Akron 14

There's really no other way to say what's already been said. Akron is the punching bag of the Mid-American Conference. CMU's offense will be far too much for the Zips to handle and I see things getting out of hand relatively early in this one.
Final score: CMU 38, Akron 13
Evan Sasiela, Staff Reporter
Record: 6-2
Akron ranks ninth in the conference in scoring offense and scoring defense. CMU ranks fourth in scoring offense and fifth in scoring defense. That’s all I need to make my prediction. If the Chippewas can cut down on those penalties, the trip to Akron for Halloween should be fun.
Final Score: CMU 34, Akron 16
