Injury update: Ostman, Hayes sit out win over Ball State
MUNCIE, Ind. — On a soggy day in Central Indiana, the Central Michigan football team pulled out a 23-21 victory over Ball State.
Here is a quick update on some key injuries on the team:
— Junior defensive end Joe Ostman was in street clothes during Saturday's game. Ostman has been nursing a high ankle sprain all season and has played once since Week 2. He has been practicing for the last several weeks but his playing status remains day-to-day.
— Junior running back Jahray Hayes, dressed but did not play against Ball State. Hayes sat out last week's blowout win over Buffalo with small fractures in his hand. He was available in an emergency-only capacity on Saturday.
— Senior offensive lineman Ramadan Ahmeti sat out of Saturday's win with back soreness. Ahmeti also did not play against Buffalo.
— Defensive lineman Jabari Dean played a few snaps, but left Saturday's game limping. Dean has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury since CMU's 41-39 loss at Western Michigan three weeks ago.
— Junior running back Martez Walker boarded the team bus with a slight limp after the game. Walker carried the ball a season-high 19 times for 86 yards during the win along with four catches for 52 yards.
